TCPRC will host 3 full-day summits to present Rapid Response policy projects and progress for community and policymaker audiences, and include breakout sessions to engage attendees on policy topics and dissemination.
On March 26, 2026, TCPRC co-hosted a Behavioral Health Regional Training Summit with Sacramento County Tobacco Education and Prevention Program (TEPP) and UCSF SCLC for providers, educators, and behavioral health teams in Sacramento and neighboring counties. The goals of the summit were to support behavioral health programs in their efforts to integrate tobacco cessation support into behavioral health services, develop wellness policies to promote healthy living and tobacco-free recovery, and implement AB 541 requirements. The speakers focused on challenging myths about tobacco use in behavioral health and recovery and featured a special topic on treatment approaches for people experiencing homelessness. Over 60 participants attended the summit and were given practical tools, resources, and dedicated time to think about how to apply what they learned in their own settings.
UC Center Sacramento helped TCPRC organize and host its first full-day summit for about 100 invitees, including advocates, community members, and policymakers, TCPRC faculty, and partners on October 8, 2024. The TCPRC summit included keynote speaker, Brenna VanFrank, MSPH, MD Senior Medical Officer, CDC Office on Smoking and Health (OSH); TCPRC policy project panels, a poster session featuring trainees, and networking to engage attendees on tobacco cessation policy topics and dissemination.
