Pilot Grants for Early Stage Investigators - Cycle 2

The Tobacco Cessation Policy Research Center (TCPRC) invites applications from junior and early‐career investigators at UC Davis for its cycle 2 pilot research grant program. TCPRC is a community-academic research partnership funded by California's Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program and housed at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Its mission is to futher tobacco cessation in California by building capacity for health care access, promoting excellence in health care delivery, facilitating health care and community engagement, and fostering equity in health plan coverage for tobacco cessation efforts. The purpose of this award is to advance TCPRC's mission and support the development and training of tobacco cessation policy researchers.

Award amount and duration. One pilot project of up to $50,000 will be awarded to support a project that can be completed within 12 months.

Eligibility. UC Davis faculty members at the Assistant level (any series), Assistant Professional Researchers, and Assistant Project Scientists. Applications with other titles (e.g., clinical fellows, postdoctoral scholars) will be accepted on a case‐by‐case basis and should contact the program coordinator before applying.

Priority research areas. Applications must advance one or both of the following TCPRC goals:

  1. Generate evidence that can support tobacco cessation policy adoption or implementation
  2. Collaborate with community and policy stakeholders to optimize the impact of tobacco cessation policy

Projects must be relevant to tobacco cessation policy in California, preferably including the greater Sacramento region and/or the UCD Comprehensive Cancer Center catchment area.
