Sacramento City Council unanimously vote to remove the Healthy Food Exemption
During Sacramento City Council's meeting on 7/21, councilmembers unanimously voted to remove the unprecedented "Healthy Food Exemption", a loophole in the Tobacco Retail policy that allowed 38 more retailers to open. Dr. Allie Reimold, one of TCPRC's GOLD Award recipients, led research to demonstrate that the Healthy Food Exemption did not improve access to healthy foods as intended, and reported her findings during public comment.
